Not able to connect to wifi on my pc

Asked by Johnny Solstad

I'm not able to connect to Internet using wireless on my Acer Aspire 5610Z.
I have installed Ubuntu 12.04 on the Harddisk as the only OS.
I'm a novise on Linux. Any help would be apreciated.
Thank you. Johnny Solstad

Your Terminal output shows the following issue:

[ 13.994351] wl: module license 'MIXED/Proprietary' taints kernel.
[ 14.014218] wl driver 6.20.155.1 (r326264) failed with code 21
[ 14.014313] kernel BUG at include/net/cfg80211.h:2351!

First make sure that you are using a working, wirED Internet connection.

Please copy-paste the following 3 commands into the Terminal to use the b43 driver instead of the non-working wl driver:

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get remove bcmwl-kernel-source

sudo apt-get install firmware-b43-installer b43-fwcutter

Then REBOOT your PC and retest wireless.

Please do as @Mark Rijckenberg said and should be fine.

You can open a terminal with CTRL+ALT+T keys combo and copy-paste from here the commands one by one.
Commands will ask for your password, write it carefully because nothing will apperas (no asterisks - no output - nothing). Press [Enter] to execute the command.

Regards
