Your Terminal output shows the following issue:

[ 17.348507] wl: module license 'MIXED/Proprietary' taints kernel.
[ 17.387568] wl driver 6.20.155.1 (r326264) failed with code 21
[ 17.387641] kernel BUG at include/net/cfg80211.h:2351!

Please copy-paste the following 3 commands into the Terminal to use the b43 driver instead of the non-working wl driver:

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get remove bcmwl-kernel-source

sudo apt-get install firmware-b43-installer b43-fwcutter

Then REBOOT your PC and retest wireless.

I'm wireless! The previous post covered a lot of ground for an earlier version of Ubuntu, but I read in there somewhere that the 12.04 had the 43xx already in the installation, but I had to find and unlock them, I might have gotten that done with more time, but this three step line entry did the trick.

I am always in awe of the underlying program activity when I do short inputs through Terminal. If I were not 63, I'd be learning Linux form the ground, no the roots up! Memory not what it was...

Thanks so much.

Now I can finish making this lappy into a purely Ubuntu Linux machine.
