How Do I Report A Bug (Ubuntu 10.10)?

Asked by Aspie

When I goto the Start and Run command and type ubuntu-bug and click "other problem". I get a error message that says:

"You need to specify a package or a PID. See --help for more information." I've got a few bugs to report and I'm lost. I mange to report one, with the audio manager thingie.

As the error message says: When you issue the command 'ubuntu-bug' you have either to add the name of the package that in your opinion has a bug, or you have to add the number of a process on your system that runs that program.

e.g. "ubuntu-bug gnome-nettool" or "ubuntu-bug 2804"

Please see help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs for all important information about bug reporting.

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs is indeed an indispensable resource. You should definitely read it carefully before reporting bugs. If you read that, reporting bugs is much easier, and your bug reports will be enormously more helpful to the developers.

@Colin Pace
You've just linked bug 883950 to this question. How are they related?

Sorry Eliah I was not aware that I had linked my problem to an existing
question I just thought that I had reported the issue to the people who
deal with these things. Have I not reported my issue to the proper
department? could you let me know who it should be referred to. Thanks
for your help.
