how close just one notebook if using tray plugin

Asked by alienheartbeat

zim 0.28 / kde3.5.10 / Kubuntu 8.04.
 and kde 4.2.2 / Kubuntu 9.04

If I have (say) two notebooks open, and am using the tray plugin
there appears to be no way to close just one of the notebooks.
Closing one closes them all.

With 2 notebooks open,
If I am not using the tray plugin, what happens is:
. x in top rhs -> closes that notebook only
. file/close -> closes that notebook only
. file/quit -> quits both zim notebooks

But with 2 notebooks open, using the tray plugin
(but not using perl-gtk2-tray, so each notebook has its own icon in the system tray)
what happens is:
. x in top rhs -> minimizes that notebook to systray
. file/close -> minimizes that notebook to systray
. file/quit -> quits both zim notebooks

I think what should happen is:
. x in top rhs -> minimizes that notebook to systray
. file/close -> closes that notebook only
. file/quit -> quits both zim notebooks

Note: If I install perl-gtk2-tray
 only difference is that both Zim notebooks have the same tray icon
  which is less convenient.
  By not installing perl-gtk2-tray, both Zim notebooks have different icons in the tray.
  But there is no difference to the close behaviour described above.

Let me know if I am doing something wrong,
or if I should submit this as a bug or wishlist item.

This question was expired because it remained in the 'Open' state without activity for the last 15 days.

The question is about to get "expired",
which I guess is termination with prejudice,
so it seems there is no obvious answer.
I will re-file it as a bug.
There should be a way of closing just one notebook,
and the behaviour with / without the systray should be consistent.

Current version of zim does indeed not support this. Thanks for filing the bug report, I will have a look at making this work in furutre versions.

Thanks. Allowing multiple zim processes might do it.

Jaap

Just to let you know I finally upgraded from
Kubuntu 8.04 / zim 0.28
to
Kubuntu 10.10 / zim 0.49
and the notebook closing works like magic!
(now I can close this thread!)

I was sorry to say goodbye to 0.28,
but 0.49 is also nice.
I had to do some fiddling to get 0.28 to work properly under kde 3
but 0.49 worked out of the box under kde 4.5.

(I did have one transitional problem which I will mess a bit more with
it first before raising it).

thanks & regards
