The calendar in the taskbar, is the calendar of evolution. The easiest way to get there is just do click on the clock and then double click a date in the calendar. The evolution opens and you can add a new appointment by right clicking a date.

For some reason, it doesn't work when I double click a date.

Hmmm, weird. Well you can take the long way via the menu: Applications, Office, Evolution. When Evolution opens, it wants to configure your mail adress, but you can just skip this, if you want to use another mail agent. Then you open the calendar and can add the appointment there.

For some reason, in the Applications: Office menu, when I click "Evolution Mail and Calendar"
it says "Could not launch menu item: Failed to execute child process 'evolution' (No such file or directory)"

Perhaps this answer will help you

Try the first answer, I think your system didn't update evolution properly.

Can you help with this problem?
