this seems to be a problem with the server not your system, please be patient whist it is fixed.

Yes might be a transient... so please try later... or change the System → Administration → Software Sources
tab [Ubuntu software] item Download from: [select main server] confirm and reload repository packages index...

Then to be sure your system is fully updated/upgraded without missing and or pending packages:

Open a Terminal from the menu Applications → Accessories → Terminal and type:
(when the system ask you a password give your user password, you will not see nothing when you type it, then press enter)

sudo dpkg --configure -a
sudo apt-get -f install
sudo apt-get --fix-missing install
sudo apt-get clean
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
sudo apt-get clean
sudo apt-get autoremove

Hope this helps

Hi,

This is the same question as https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/synaptic/+question/52081 . This is due to bug #300247 ; which is supposed to be fixed now. Can you confirm it is fixed?

You may have to clean your database first, can you try all the commands suggested by marcobra above?
