Reporting a bug in gcalctool doesn't work

Asked by Jaap Woldringh

Trying to report a bug in the Help-menu of gcalctool doesn't do anything, which is why I try to report bugs using get online help in the Help-menu, which does work.
To be sure: the bug I report here is that the button for reporting bugs in gcalctool doesn't work :)

I tested it now and it works correctly (collects info, uploads it and then starts a browser with "Report a bug in gcalctool" page).

On the computer on which I installed the trial version of Gutsy this still
doesn't work (yesterday there was an update for gcalctool, which I
installed).

On this computer on which I now type this answer, which uses Feisty, the bug
reporting tool in gcalctool operates OK.

So I am sorry to say that reporting a bug in gcalctool with Gutsy doesn't work
well, in other programs (kst) it does work.

BTW, off topic: the Dutch translations of both these programs (gcalctool and
kst) are way obsolete. I reported these bugs also.
So there are still things to do before Gutsy is ready to go :)

I didn't know you were in Gutsy... Why don't you file a bug report? Just click on a link in the left menu "Create bug report". Don't forget to mention it happens in Gutsy.

Sorry, very sorry, I did not mention Gutsy.

This bug report is about that the file a bug report option of gcalctool in
Gutsy doesn't work! That's why I asked a "question". I see the bug report
possibility that you mention, and I'll use it :)
Thanks for answering this question.

Are you sure you have apport installed?

Yes, I guess I am.

According to synaptic I have installed (all version 0.96):

apport
apport-gtk
apport-qt
Python-apport

But NOT installed was

apport-retrace

I installed this too, with the result that it collected information on this problem which it said it uploaded to the developers.

See also bug #129730, which is the same bug.
Hope this helps, if you need more information just knock on my door :)

This means we solved your issue? If not please indicate what you exactly need...

No, it doesn't mean this issue is solved, it still exists.
I only answered your question whether apport was installed or not: it is.

I need a working bug report tool in gcalctool.

That's exactly what I need.

In other applications it works, in gcalctool it doesn't, so I think the problem is in gcalctool and not in applications that are installed or not.

I hope this is exact enough :)

Maybe you could have a look at your /etc/apport/blacklist.d if you have accidentally disabled gcalctool crash reports.
I have really no other idea since it works for me fine.

I have looked at the files in /etc/apport/blacklist.d but there are no applications mentioned in any line whatever there. So ...

I am sorry, but we are still stick I suppose.

See bug #129730, where I reported the bug fixed in Gutsy tribe 5. I am really sorry that I did not do so in this place too AND that I appear to have reported this bug twice, for which I apologize.

So please consider this bug as resolved.
There is only a button for "I still need an Answer" which I'll use for giving this feedback, but I do not need an answer :)
