I got 3 updates called "important security updates" but when I tried to install a message came up "These updates are not authenticated and may contain malware" What should I do: install or not
Message from update Centre "Important securityu Update...they are

Ghostscript- cups
Ghostscript-x
libgs8
When I click on Install updates and enter my code I get a warning notice that the software can not be authenticated and may allow malicious software to damage or control my system. The summary is for 4 packages to be upgraded.

S sorry to worry you...I went out and closed down, tried loading the updates (I had done this twice already!) but this time it worked...no warning message. Why this happened I have no idea.
Thank you for coming back to me so promptly

> no warning message. Why this happened I have no idea.
Reason was displayed in output.
> E: Unable to lock the administration directory (/var/lib/dpkg/), *is another process using it*?
If there're more package management GUIs running at the same time dpkg is locked of course.
Close for example update-manager, software-center, synaptic before using the terminal.
The 'can not be authenticated' message can happen when a server isn't synced. (often have seen it with .us or .au)
If in case uncertain verify if there're in fact security updates, select your release and it displays usn.

If a server isn't synced yet, rather wait a few hours or select main server via software-sources.
