Sounds like their is a bad connction in the system or ACPI is turning the camera off to save battery. You can try disabling it with boot options:

Press E when the kernel list loads, You can now edit the entry for one show and add any number of boot options

grub2 does not allow editing. it just goes back to its original
settings.

It does allow editting. It will only switch back if you run:

update-grub

If you simply edit the grub.cfg file it will stand. I have had to do this through most of karmics alpha stages due to it adding a weird option '--no-floppy' which i had to manually edit out. I actually had my system email me if an update added the lines to grub.cfg so I could ssh in and edit them out manually before rebooting to get the new kernel. Very tedious.

I have an MSI Wind (Advent 4211) and can confirm this issue. The dmesg errors are the same with acpi=off. Has a bug been filed for this?
