I installed everything and can't play a DVD

Asked by psweeney

I have tried every possible player and installed all the required stuff for them and still get the "Could not read from resource" error message or a variation of it depending on the player I am trying. Please make it as easy as possible for me so I can watch my dvd's on my computer. running 8.04

Thank you for you help but I am still having trouble getting the DVD's to play.  I followed your posting to a T and I am getting the same error messages. Is their a way to uninstall the players and start fresh maybe?  This is driving me crazy not being able to figure it out.

In add/Remove programs you can uninstall everything. So all the players you installed you can remove.

I suggest you leave VLC on your PC.

I think it´s strange that you can´t watch your DVD in VLC. Did you try another DVD. Perhaps this DVD is not working right.

I tried several DVD's and they all have the same result.
