It's not clear from your post whether or not you actually want help with this problem, but if you do, you'll have to provide more information. What exactly are you doing when that error occurs? Does it occur when you are trying to install Ubuntu from the live CD? If so, does it actually *stop* you from installing Ubuntu? Did you check your Internet connection, like it said?

(To clarify--did you check to see whether or not you could access the Internet from other applications in Ubuntu?)

Topic changed: 'natty sucks' >> '"Cannot download release notes"'

Please, mind your language here.

Hi there,
yes I"ve tried downloading 11-04 several times , the latest rejection was
& I quote " My hardware does not support Unity" although I use a duel core
etc machine.
Also When trying to download to my laptop, it flashes " unable to down load
Check internet connection", which I have & is fine was working perfectly
with a d/l speed of 8mg.
I have never had this trouble before 10.`10 was working perfectly until
11.04 stalled it, luckily I backed up all data. Help would be appreciated.
 Many thanks : andrerwhadyn.

Can you please give the output of:

sudo apt-get update; cat /etc/lsb-release

Thanks

What video chip do you use?
Did you clean install Natty or did you upgrade?

" My hardware does not support Unity": it's related to graphic card and not CPU.
" unable to down load Check Internet connection" : I simply presume main server was overloaded. You can try http://www.ubuntu.com/download/ubuntu/alternative-download#bt

I also had the "cannot download release notes" with the update manger when I knew the internet connection was OK and V10.10 was fully up to date. So I opened a terminal and ran "sudo do-release-ubuntu" and it upgraded nicely. This was actually with Xubuntu on an old Dell machine so it was a bit slow but it got there.

Can you help with this problem?
