font choice in Inkscape 0.91

In Inkscape 0.48 it is possible to choose and change font freely in the same way as in Word and other applications. In Inkscape 0.91 or at least the copy available to me it seems to be possible to change font only by setting the desired font as the default. Is this the way it is supposed to be? Is this a bug? Or am I missing something, an adjustment to make somewhere I have not yet found, perhaps? Some of the features of Inkscape 0.91 are immensely welcome and helpful, such as the addition of the Measurement Tool, but as I learn to use Inkscape using the Manual by Tavmjong Bah, I find myself preferring 0.48 when there is any need to use type and fonts.
If there is an adjustment to make I should very much like to know what it is.

You can change the font any time by selecting the text and choosing a different font.

If you use this together with the 'use tool's last style' option, you are pretty much okay, working around the bug mentioned in the other answer.

Dear Maren,Thank you for your e-mail and for your reply to my question about changing fonts in Inkscape 0.91. I had pretty much come to the conclusion that the only way of changing the font was what you describe but wondered if I had missed something. Your answer gives the impression that the problem really is a bug and that Inkscape 0.91 really should work the way Word and Inkscape 0.48 work.After seeing what the site for asking questions or submitting bugs was like I did not think I was likely to receive a direct reply but I am very grateful that my supposition was incorrect.
