This forum provides support basically only on a voluntary base
which means in particular that there is neither any kind of fixed
response time nor any kind of guarantee that your issue will
be solved at all.
When issues with Suse Linux Enterprise Server are really urgent,
you must have an apopropriate support contract with Novell/Suse.
For Suse Linux Enterprise Server 10 we (i.e. Novell/Suse)
provide and support HPLIP
version 0.9.7 in the RPM packages hplip and hplip-hpijs
and alternatively but excluding each other
version 1.7.2 in the RPM packages hplip17 and hplip17-hpijs.
Other HPLIP versions (in particular any packages which are
not from our official RPM package repository for SLES 10
and/or any kind of self-compiled software) are not supported
by us (i.e. Novell/Suse) for SLES 10 - unless you negotiated
a special support contract with us.
According to
http://
the minimum HPLIP version for a LaserJet p3005dn is HPLIP version 1.6.10
so that it should work with our packages hplip17 and hplip17-hpijs.
This printer belongs to the "APDK device class(es): LJMono,Postscript"
so taht it is a true PostScript printer and then you should not need
any HPLIP software at all for normal printing.
For some general information regarding HPLIP
for Suse Linux Enterprise Server 10 see for example

inaccurate as the link on step C - For Suse 10.0 doesn't work.

Hello Femi,
i would suggest you to choose Auto Installer.
It will do every thing (resolve dependencies, configure, firewall settings, install) for you.
You can download the auto installer for Suse 10.0 from the following link
http://
you can see the instructions at the following link:

I hope you have SUSE 10.0, i am not sure auto installer support it.
If you are following the manual instructions,
although you are not set the repository, you can install the dependencies.
su -c "zypper --non-interactive --no-gpg-checks in --auto-
and continue next steps on manual instructions page.
Thanks,
Naga Samrat Chowdary.

Naga, thanks for the email. Unfortunately zypper isn't supported on SLES
10.0. I believe it was introduced in SLES 10. SP1. So I wouldn't be able
to run the command you sent
su -c "zypper --non-interactive --no-gpg-checks in
--auto-
ghostscript-library openssllibjpeg-
libusb libusb-devel makepython-imaging python-devel python-xml python sane
sane-devel xsane"
