no device found on setup of officejet 8000 wireless

Asked by Bill Glennie

I have installed hplip-3.9.12.run on to an Aspire One and followed instructions as per the website. When I try hp-setup I am getting device not found using both usb and wireless connections. I have tried using IP address and it finds, model "HP Officejet Pro 8000 a809 ip and host are coorect but device URI has ? after a809? Next window brings up officejet proK5300,5400 L7300,7500,7600,7700, non of these allows me to print the test page. Giving a printer error printer busy, offline or in an error state
At present the printer is working connected to a Pc OS XP by USB and also is connecting and working wirelessly, connecting to a laptop also using OS XP. I have a BT wireless networker 1250 which is connected to the PC by USB and connects by wifi to the laptop and the aspire Distr. linpus Linux lite v1.0.21.E.
Please could you help
I am new to Linux

Please run hp-check -t and post it here. Are you using hp-setup utility to add the printer?

Thanks,

A

Hi tried to reinstall
Got to last line of rpm -Uvh hplip-3.9.4.rhe15.rpm and there is an error
:open of Uvh hplip-3.9.4.rhe15.rpm failed no such file or directory.
Everything worked up to that point although some things were installed and
no action was taken, do I need to uninsall and if how is this done?
Bill

i see you are referring to the old package name in your command. Please note the command would be as below (if you have downloaded the latest package)

su -c "rpm -Uvh hplip-3.9.12_linpus-9.5.i386.rpm"

Same is updated on the below link. Hope, it solves your issue.
