Printer not discovered cannot print
Linux Mint 19.3 Cinnamon
HP LaserJet Professional P1102w
The printer has stopped working all of a sudden a few days ago since applying system updates on 20Jan2021.
I have installed the latest hplip-3.20.11 over the previous hplip-3.17.10 when the printer failed to print. However, hp-setup cannot discover the USB connected printer although it is listed in CUPS. I changed the URI to USB connected in Mint's System Settings\Printers and tried to print a test page. The job just kept on "processing: rendering complete". hp-check -t said that my printer model is unsupported. Your list of supported printers clearly indicated that hplip-3.20.11.run is the correct download for my Linux distribution. A test page ca b printed after adding printer, but documents sent cannot be printed. The status n\in CUPS is "Idle - Filter failed".
I followed your automatic installation instructions. Running hp-setup on restart of the computer, plugin was successfully downloaded. On the next step, I selected the 1st option (printer connected to USB) but the error reported "no devices found on bus: usb".
<lpinfo -v> showed that the printer's connection is "direct usb". On my computer's System Settings\Printers, it showed that the printer is "connected to local host".
<apt-cache policy hplip> output:

Note: hp-check can be run in three modes:
1. Compile-time check mode (-c or --compile): Use this mode before
compiling the HPLIP supplied tarball (.tar.gz or .run) to
determine if the proper dependencies are installed to successfully
compile HPLIP.
2. Run-time check mode (-r or --run): Use this mode to determine
if a distro supplied package (.deb, .rpm, etc) or an already built
HPLIP supplied tarball has the proper dependencies installed to
successfully run.
3. Both compile- and run-time check mode (-b or --both) (Default):
This mode will check both of the above cases (both compile- and
run-time dependencies).
Check types:
a. EXTERNALDEP - External Dependencies
b. GENERALDEP - General Dependencies (required both at compile and
run time)
c. COMPILEDEP - Compile time Dependencies
d. [All are run-time checks]
