printing issue

Asked by pecanbrown

Hi, a month or so ago I asked a question, 280716. I checked back a few days after asking it, no response. Then i went on vacation when i received a couple of responses. I have since answered the questions and responded but have not received any response in the last week. Since I now have the time to devote to this issue, I would like to get it solved. Since i have another way of printing it has not been the priority. PLease help if you can I apologize for any delays in my response. Here is the info from the previous message.
I am not able to print on my HP Laser P1007. I m using a Lenovo PC in dual boot, win& and Ubuntu 12.4. I can print in windows but not in ubuntu. I get an error message. I tried a hp-plugin -i-g but it did not work. I have the hpcheck below:

Note: hp-check can be run in three modes:
1. Compile-time check mode (-c or --compile): Use this mode before compiling the
HPLIP supplied tarball (.tar.gz or .run) to determine if the proper dependencies
are installed to successfully compile HPLIP.
2. Run-time check mode (-r or --run): Use this mode to determine if a distro
supplied package (.deb, .rpm, etc) or an already built HPLIP supplied tarball
has the proper dependencies installed to successfully run.
3. Both compile- and run-time check mode (-b or --both) (Default): This mode
will check both of the above cases (both compile- and run-time dependencies).

Check types:
a. EXTERNALDEP - External Dependencies
b. GENERALDEP - General Dependencies (required both at compile and run time)
c. COMPILEDEP - Compile time Dependencies
d. [All are run-time checks]

Have you ever provided the output that you get when trying the command 'hp-plugin -i -g' ?

What was the result of running 'hp-plugin -i -g' ?
Was there an error message or other failure?

Sorry, this message was in my junk mail.
Here is what happens when I run the hp-plugin -i -g.
First it ask for download, path or quit. I input d for download. It tries to connect and the message comes up "Connecting to hplip.sf.net (hplip.sf.net) | 216.34.181.96|:80
Failed connection timed out."
Then it retries and keeps repeating the process until I stop it.
It did not work.

Apparently you have a problem with your network connection. You have to get this corrected for the installation to work.

Can you help with this problem?

Provide an answer of your own, or ask pecanbrown for more information if necessary.
