can't connect to hubs

Asked by rockinerict

Any help to my problem is greatly appreciated. I am receiving the following message any time I try to connect to hubs..."an existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host." I have been a long-time user of DC++ and have never had a problem until this past week. Now, all of a sudden, I can't connect to anything and keep receiving the same message. I am using the 0.75 version which I recently updated to. I also recently updated to Internet Explorer 8. After these updates it seems where I am having the problem, and I don't know if they are connected. I have tried in passive mode as well to no luck, and have also shut down any virus protecters and firewalls and tried it that way and that has also not worked. Again, any help is appreciated, as I have never experienced this problem in the past with the several versions of DC++ that I have used and now within the past week I can't connect to any hub. Thank you for any assistance.

I too have had similar problem, all of a sudden this week, can not connect to ANY hubs at all. ALL hubs give me message of :

Connecting to hc.no-ip.biz:411...
[22:47] *** Connected
[22:47] *** An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host.

I have 5 hubs that i have connected to for the past 2 years, and now cant connect to anything. This is not a hub problem, there is a bug or minor issue with an update of some kind. I have installed no new software, no changes to DC++, just stopped working one day. I have tried both active and passive with no resolve

Any help would be greatly appreciated

No, I still have not been able to connect and still have the same problems. I've tried everything that I can think of, but have not had any luck yet. It's frustrating as I've been a DC++ user for several years now and never had any problems, and now I can't connect to anything. I haven't had any answers on the boards yet either that has helped. If I ever get lucky and can figure out what the problem is, I will let you know. Good luck to you!

You both, make sure you read and did the steps of this FAQ : https://answers.launchpad.net/dcplusplus/+faq/103

If it doesn't help try to connect to eg. the public DCdev hub. Press Ctrl-Q, and paste this address (including the adcs part) :

adcs://devpublic.adcportal.com:16591

If you able to connect then most probably your provider blocked access to the most known dynamic dns services. I assume you use the latest version of DC++, you'll need it to connect to THIS hub.

Thanks eMtee,

was able to connect right away, guess my next move is try my sisters ISP and see if it works at her house (since she has a different provider). If it works then looks like my ISP is blocking me.

Until then to see what kind of block do you suffer from, select the openhublist or hubtracker (eg. http://hublist.openhublist.org/hublist.xml.bz2) hublist in the Public hublists window. Click refresh, then type to the filter box:

adc

then press enter. Try to connect to the filtered hubs (should be around 20). Can you connect to the majority of them (of course some of them maybe down)? Try at least those where the address contains no-ip.

dc://gabberworld.selfip.com:600...

adc://adc.san.ru:10000..

Hubs used to connect to

djcenter.no-ip.org.550
tmr.dcpp.ru.411
hub.astateoftrance.ro:411
purehousemusic.no-ip.org.650
tranceworld.no-ip.org:999

connected to
adc://adc1.abc-network.nu:1357...
adcs://pirre.no-ip.info:443..
adc://adc.extatic.org:1511...
adc://adc2.san.ru:10000.

 adcs://olimpo.no-ip.com:6455...
dc://audiophile.no-ip.org:48000..
adc://elite.4242.hu:2424.

so basically this shows this does filter hubs? isnt it a matter of time before they filter the next set? Can i call and ask them to stop filtering? or do i just goto another ISP?

off to sisters house today to see if her provider works

No this shows they filter protocol. Looks like they block the old DC protocol (which still used by the majority of the hubs) while you can connect to the minority which using the new (adc) protocol (probably they doesn't know about its existence yet).

Ask them if they're blocking and if so you'd better go find another isp.

so went to another ISP today and found DC to work perfectly with all my old exisisting hubs, so now that i know they are blocking, just want to make sure i ask the right question.

I want to ask them to unblock software protocols? and i take it i should stay away from the terms file sharing? what would be another creative explanation of DC++ ??? (or is it really any of their business what i share?)

Thanks for the help eMTee

DC Хаблист Список DC-хабов Dchublist

http://dchublist.biz/?do=hubs

Ссылка для вашего клиента: http://dchublist.biz/?do=hublist.xml.bz2

This public hub list is work and is the best

http://dchublist.biz/?do=hublist.config.bz2

http://dchublist.biz/?do=hublist.xml.bz2 (for DC++ clients newer than 0.4033)
