Could you attach a SVG file that crashes Inkscape when opening 'Document Preferences'?

1) could you please attach the report of this crash (13/11/09, around 15:17) - you can find it in '~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter'
('~' is your 'Home' in the Finder sidebar, browse to Library > Logs > CrashReporter and search for a report with 'inkscape-bin' and the same date and time stamp in its file name)
2) and could you list the contents of these two folders:
 /Library/ColorSync/Profiles
 /Library/ColorSync/Profiles/Displays

1) Well, that crash report is from Date/Time: 2009-01-31 17:53:26.014 +0100
a bit old to be related to this crash (that was one about fonts...). No newer ones to be found? You could also look in '/Library/Logs/CrashReporter' or use 'Applications > Utilities > Console' to find any other crash logs from today in its log list.

2) About the listing of profiles - I was interested if they contain any special characters in their names, but unfortunately your jpegs show only the truncated names.
Easiest way to get a folder listing:
1) browse for example to '/Library/ColorSync/Profiles/Displays'
2) select all profiles (Cmd+A)
3) copy them (Cmd+C)
4) open TextEdit
5) set format of the new document to 'Plain Text' (Shift+Cmd+T)
6) simply paste the clipboard (Cmd+V).
This gives me a compact list of all file names (OS X 10.5.8 here with english menus - the shortcuts on your system might be different though, I don't know).

Jon - could you have a look at this? Inkscape 0.47pre4 crashes without crash report or emergency save when opening document preferences, last console message:

The bug is still unconfirmed but three days ago I have read about the same issue in a german user forum: Inkscape 0.47pre on Snow Leopard, can't open document preferences without crash.

I can't reproduce it with Inkscape 0.47pre and r22575 on OS X 10.5.8,
tested with different $LANG: en_US.utf-8, it_IT.utf-8, de_DE.utf-8

@donatello - could you try to rename your currently used preferences file and attach it to the bug report? Inkscape will then create a new one with default values.

Steps to find and rename the preferences file on OS X:
1) quit Inkscape
2) in the Finder, use menu 'Go > Go to Folder…' and enter '~/.config/inkscape' (without quotes, no spaces) to browse to the hidden Inkscape user configuration folder
3) select 'preferences.xml', rename it to 'preferences-crash.xml'
4) restart Inkscape and test if the crash still happens, quit Inkscape
5) attach the renamed 'preferences-crash.xml' and the new one to this bug report and please tell us if Inkscape still crashes after resetting the preferences to default values.
