@donatello - could you try to rename your currently used preferences file and attach it to the bug report? Inkscape will then create a new one with default values.
Steps to find and rename the preferences file on OS X:
1) quit Inkscape
2) in the Finder, use menu 'Go > Go to Folder…' and enter '~/.config/inkscape' (without quotes, no spaces) to browse to the hidden Inkscape user configuration folder
3) select 'preferences.xml', rename it to 'preferences-crash.xml'
4) restart Inkscape and test if the crash still happens, quit Inkscape
5) attach the renamed 'preferences-crash.xml' and the new one to this bug report and please tell us if Inkscape still crashes after resetting the preferences to default values.
