Bug Description

I recently closed https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/vim/+bug/3222, which is linked to https://answers.launchpad.net/vim/+question/36973. The Launchpad Janitor used the following message in the bug:

"This bug was fixed in the package vim - 1:7.1.314-3ubuntu3

---------------
vim (1:7.1.314-3ubuntu3) intrepid; urgency=low

  * runtime/syntax/grub.vim:
    - Add Ubuntu-specific 'quiet' keyword.
  * Remove some unnecessary divergence from Debian, thanks to James Vega
    (LP: #248713):
    - Remove explicit settings of textwidth=0 and nobackup, since those are
      already the defaults.
    - Remove explicit setting of viminfo to a subset of the default, thereby
      adding s10 and h.
    - Remove NoDisplay=true from gvim.desktop; vim-gui-common isn't
      installed by default and there's no reason to withhold the menu entry
      from those who have installed it (LP: #3222).

However, the answers mail claimed the following:

"Bug #3222 status changed in vim in ubuntu:

    Triaged => Fix Released

Status change explanation given by Launchpad Janitor:

Okay, we just need to remove "NoDisplay=true" (actually, I think this is
in a patch against Debian, so we just need to remove it from that).
Relative to gvim this is High since people may not be able to find it.
Should be an easy fix. Plus it can help eliminate an unnecessary
divergence from Debian (bug #248713).

"gvim is hidden in menu despite popup indicating it could be found in menu"

This bug is linked to #36973.
gnome-vim menu item in Applications...Accessories (like Emacs)

This is wrong - that was the *previous* message on that bug, and furthermore was not entered by Launchpad Janitor.

This is more important now, since the AJAX status chooser doesn't set the status explanation.

I've also experienced this bug, after posting comments 4, 5, and 6 in bug 773390, then immediately changing the bug's status from Incomplete to Invalid and (re-)marking the bug as a duplicate of bug 529714. Bug 773390 is linked-to in https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/banshee/+question/154805, and I received an email (full original text of the email attached) incorrectly notifying me that comment 3 (which was actually posted by user https://launchpad.net/~hyperair) was the explanation I had provided for marking the bug Invalid.
