Zim manual translations

Asked by Giles Carré

Hi,

The Zim translation to french status is 100%. But it seems that this status only cover the application, not the manual. Is there a work for the manual translation? If needed, I can contribute.

Hi Giles,

Currently I have nothing for translations of the manual. Obviously if you
were to go ahead and translate the manual to french, I would be more than
happy to include the result in the application and on the website.

Main thing to think about is what tooling to use to track changes. For the
application it helps that most text are short strings, so we can use the
launchpad website to translate them bit by bit. Not sure what tooling to
use to make sure that you can easily update your translation when the
manual changes.

Of course, all changes are tracked in the code version control, but that
may be a bit bare-bones to make it a real easy thing to do.

One thing I have been considering is to put the whole manual in github, and
allow community editing of the manual there. Have to think if that would
also help with translations.

Regards,

Jaap
