Zim

codeblock feature for Zim desktop wiki

Asked by Denise Brooks

I've been using the Confluence codeblock macro at work, and I wondering if there is something similar available for the Zim desktop wiki now? I would like to be able to insert a code block with syntax highlighting while using the zim desktop gui on a linux netbook.

No at the moment although there is some work defined to make this possible
in the long term.

How to use this feature in Zim Desktop Wiki for Windows?

If I type
''' (three single quotes)
some text here
''' (three single quotes)

It does not format at all. It simply stays as it was.

@oblong: looks like the comment of Enkouyami is about a different project that is also called "Zim", not about the "zim desktop wiki" - which is confusing...

To answer the original question: in newest versions of zim there is a plugin called "source view" that implements embedded code blocks. It will add a menu item to the "insert" menu. Syntax in the wiki source is slightly different than just verbatim text, but the plugin will handle that for you.

@Jaap thank-you for the answer, I found that inserting the triple quotes before and after does take effect after the note has been closed and reopened.

Can you help with this problem?
