Zim

pdf preview

Asked by Marco Grison

Dear developer,
i like a lot the wiki and i use it every day as a scientific logbook. The only stuff i miss is the presence of the pdf preview. I have lot of vectorial graphs (pdf for example) and i have to convert them in png in order to visualize them on the pages. This is a feature every personal-wiki-program misses (for what I know, only vodooPad for MAC-OS does it). If I can suggest a development, this would me the most useful for me.

Best regards and thanks in advance for your help.

Marco

PDF preview is difficult, since I have no default library I can use to
read them. However a plugin could be made that does the png generation
on the fly and use it for preview.

For vector data do you have the option to use the SVG format ? If so
that can be used directly in zim pages.

Jaap

Dear Jaap,
thanks for your answer. Our analysis program has no SVG format, what i can do is to write a script which converts all pdf to png in my directory, or what you suggested is also a good idea. I need to make it automatic because I have lot of graphs, but i can write a script at this point.

Best regards
Marco

If the script uses commands that are publicly available, please
provide me the script and I'll have a look if I can turn it into a
plugin that does it on the fly when you insert a pdf.
