Zim

configure an external editor

Asked by shafter

using windows 7 32 bit:

I configured an external editor but it will not run. I suspect the reason is the path contains spaces. I get an error message stating "Failed running C:\Program" and the full path is C:\Program Files\ConTEXT\ConTEXT.exe. The problem is I cannot find a way to correct the problem. Help file states "Go to the Preferences Dialog and specify your text editor." but I cannot find this setting. How can I reset the external editor?

Yes, the command needs to be quoted if it contains spaces.

Go anywhere where you have a link to a text file and use the "open
with" dialog. Or go to %APPDATA%/zim/data/applications (version 0.58)
or %HOME%/.local/share/applications (older versions) and look for the
related ".desktop" file and edit that one directly.

Will update help text and/or put the config directly in the error message.
