Asked by Alvaro Alonso

I downloaded the full package and the portable version and tried to run either on Windows 2000 Professional+Service Pack 4 in spanish language.

The full pack start but after some seconds nothing is displayed.
The portable version start and display the icon but some seconds nothing is displayed.

To be honest I don't know. Never tested it on any system older than XP.

From the source code I would expect it to run, but not sure if the
compiled version in the installer supports all windows versions. So
you might try installing the dependencies and run zim from source (see
website for details).

Also please check %TMP%/zim.log, it may contain some error log
explaining why zim does not start.

Jaap

Hi Jaap, the "zim-log" file has this information:
--
WARNING: Trashing of files not supported, could not import 'gio'
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "zim.py", line 66, in <module>
File "zim\__init__.pyo", line 410, in main
  File "zim\gui\__init__.pyo", line 19, in <module>
  File "gtk\__init__.pyo", line 40, in <module>
  File "gtk\_gtk.pyo", line 12, in <module>
File "gtk\_gtk.pyo", line 10, in __load
ImportError: DLL load failed: "No se encontró el proceso especificado."
--
The spanish "No se encontró el proceso especificado" translate "Specified process not found"
--
any hint?
bye

This basically it means that the gtk library doesn't load successfully. Not
sure about the root cause,as this is outside zim itself.

A quick search led me to this discussion:
http://python.6.n6.nabble.com/PyGTK-and-Windows-2000-td1946047.html which
seems to address the same issue and has a bit more background.

No direct solution I'm afraid. Although if you manage to install or compile
these libraries, zim should work as intended.
