Zim opens notebook in readonly mode

Asked by Thos

Am using Zim 0.43 on Ubuntu 10.4. Have 2 notebooks, but use just one of them most of the time.

For some reason, now when I start Zim up, it is opening up my main notebook in 'readonly' mode. I do not remember how many days it has been since I last made an update to Zim. Have closed and restarted Zim many times to see if it will open the notebook in edit mode, but it still opens the notebook in readonly mode.

Have opened my other notebook, and it opens up in edit mode as expected.

QUESTION: What can I do so I can work with my main notebook as before, in edit mode?
Is there some sort of a 'lock' file that needs to be reset?

TIA, Thomas

I assume you have seen the toolbar button to toggle between read-only
and read-write mode? Only if this button is grayed out the notebook is
really read-only.

Zim checks the file permissions of the top level folder - if that one
is not writable the whole notebook becomes read only.

I'm unclear as to the point of the read-only and read-write toggle switch without some form of permissions or superuser only security switch...
