The cone penetration test (CPT)

Asked by Sam

Hi there,

I have been trying to simulate the cone penetration test (CPT) on the granular material (say Sand). However, I can not find anything about it on the Launchpad!! So, I want o to become sure, Is it possible to model The cone penetration test (CPT) in YADE? Also, Please give me some clues, how can I model it in YADE.

Cheers
Sam

In Yade, you can model arbitrary geometry comprised of facets that interact with particles. So yes, in theory, you could model a cone-shaped geometry comprised of facets pushing into a bed of particles. However, the relevancy of the results is probably the main concern.
