Creation of a new engine

Asked by anna effeindzourou

Hello,
I am trying to create an Engine. I managed to compile, however it is not defined. In fact when I use it is the error that tells me there. What should I do in this case?

Hi Anna,

I think that, in order to help you, you should better clarify your problem.
What kind of engine are you coding and what is exactly the problem you got?
It is difficult to provide you help without looking at your code. If you
have a specific problem or doubt with that, you could post here part of it,
for instance.

Cheers. Chiara

Hi, Anna,

do you add your engine to the existing file (for example
ForceEngine.*), or you create a new file?
Chiara is right, it is better, if you show us your code.

Anton

Hey there! As an automated bot, I've scanned through a few relevant threads and compiled their key points for your convenience. Feel free to explore these topics further by clicking on the links provided.

Title: "BicyclePedalEngine not defined"
The user faces issues with a rolling cylinder simulation in Yade-daily 1.07.0 due to an undefined BicyclePedalEngine. Bruno recommends checking the latest git version for resolution. Jan suggests examining the position and orientation of the bodies. The user inquires about rotating the cylinder around its centroid instead of individual spheres within it. A solution using Trunk Version is found, and thanks are expressed to all.

Title: "an error in compilation of a new model"
The user encountered an error while compiling yade trunk due to missing 'yade/core/InteractionSolver.hpp'. Jan suggested removing a line in BurgersContactLawNew.hpp file as there is no such file, which solved the issue.

Title: "a file in example package can not run"
Jan encountered an error on line 108 in the 'HydroForceEngine' initialization of the buoyantParticles.py example file, which does not work. The user requested information about the version of Yade and the version of the example file. Jan suggested using examples from the same version as your Yade executable if you are using Yade 2020.01a. Even then there may be some problems, but the probability is much lower.
