Auto duration for scrolling rss feed?

Asked by LarryK

Hi Chaps,

On 1.0.5 --

I'm using a single region, single rss feed with 0 update time.

All's working well. (Including unicode characters in the feed.)

Question is about the duration setting for the feed. If I make it too short, then the display is reset before the end of the rss feed is scrolled by. But if I make it too long, then there is a blank screen shown after the rss feed until it restarts.

Am I missing something here? Is there a way for the feed to be scrolled, then restarted right away?

The problem is that the feed changes throughout the day (hence the 0 update time). And the length of the feed varies too. So it doesn't work so great to choose a max time.

Any work-arounds?

Thanks very much.

Your fan,

Larry

Oops, on second thought, it looks like there is auto-scrolling.

-- When I have the duration set to 1000 seconds (over 16 minutes), the rss feed scrolls by in about 2 minutes. Then there is about a 20 sec delay, then the rss repeats.

Is that the design?

I think in this case, my only thought is to be able to lower the inter-feed delay from about 20 sec to about 3 sec. I've worked in television and 20 sec of black is a *looong* time.

Thanks,

Larry

Hi Larry

Your feed probably has a load of trailing whitespace. As soon as the end of the feed leaves the screen it'll come back on the other side. There's no 20 second delay built in.
