Named text regions

Asked by asmith

This is sort of related to: https://answers.launchpad.net/xibo/+question/71565
But it would be nice if we could give a text area a name. If it is not stored in the library, that is of (for now lol).

If this is something you want, then you're best filing a blueprint for it over in the blueprints section.

It'll then be considered by the development team next time we're assigning series goals, or, if you're really keen, draft the blueprint (complete with technical details), get it accepted and then code it in yourself. Assuming you follow the guidelines in the Contrib guide then it'll likely end up as being accepted in to the main Xibo development branch.

What I would say, again, is that having used Xibo when you used to have to put text in the media section with names and description it's a total nightmare, really doesn't work well at all. Perhaps you could give some use case examples in your blueprint of why you think this feature is useful as I'm struggling to understand why you need it.

Cheers

Alex

Alex, i don't know if asmith really want the same thing i do, but if it is, i agree with him. I would like to see in my region options the name of a text field, not just the type and duration. Same thing for webpages. If you have a dozen or more messages, it is hard to delete one. You have to click edit, one by one to see which one you're looking for. Flash files and images have names so they are easier to find.

Now asmith, correct me if i'm wrong but is that what you meant?

Can you help with this problem?
