Can you add templates?

Asked by Nate

Haven't had a need to yet, but I'm curious if there's a way to add templates in case I run across non-standard screen formats.

Thanks,
Nate

The chance of encountering a non-standard screen format are pretty slim (from my point of view...)

16:9, 16:10, 4:3, 3:2, 9:16, 10:16, 3:4 and 2:3 are all standard on the market. Even in resolutions, all standard.

For example divide 16:9 = 1.778, take a common widescreen resolution : 1600 x 900, divide 1600 by 900, you get the same ratio : 1.778.

Like me, if you run with a HD capable display, 720p would be : 1280 x 720, same ratio, 1.778

I can't recall ever seeing any other ratio types unless you have something very custom, but then you'd pay premium and why?

I bet they will introduce new templates if new standards come on the market.
Maybe the developers could add a custom resolution template in future releases so you can input the exact resolution you would use on your specific display.

Nate,
There is a blueprint for this here:
https://blueprints.launchpad.net/xibo/+spec/server-custom-resolution

Stef is right though - we would always try to cater for the common
resolutions - if there is something you think you might use a lot the
chances are someone else will to and we should add it to the core product.

Cheers,
Dan

Good point.
I just noticed you couldn't, without really thinking to myself, "Why would you need to?"

:)

Thanks,
Nate
