Backwards compatibility

Asked by Matthew Holder

With a new client in the pipeline, and a supposedly new and heavily updated server with new features added, will an upgrade of the server be possible while keeping the same layouts in usage?

In a similar vein, will the new client be able to work with the old server?

Hi Matthew

The intension is to provide a complete upgrade path, so you should be able to keep your existing layouts.

The new client will only work with the new server as the xml schema differs between the two versions.

There's documentation in the wiki if you're interested in the exact details.

Alex
