Hi

I expect you've actually installed 1.0.2 as we've not released 1.1.2 yet!

Are you trying to run the server and client on the same machine?

Hi

I've just read your other email.

Assuming the client is installed on a machine other than the server, then http://localhost/xibo-server isn't going to be the right address to use.

"localhost" is a special name that refers to the machine your using - so if you're asking the client to connect to http://localhost/xibo-server then it's going to look at itself for a webserver (when clearly the webserver is installed on a different machine).

You need to find out if the server has a name you can use to reference it, or use its ip address - eg:
http://my-server/xibo-server
http://192.168.1.8/xibo-server

Cheers

Alex

Yes i install the server on the local machine. That is "http://localhost/xibo-server". And install the client on the same machine.
Is i need to install the server on different machine??

Hi Selvakumar

You don't have to install it on a different machine - but it's more normal to.

In any case, if client and server are both on the same PC then to register the client, open the client options and put in the "The URI of the Xibo Server" box "http://localhost/xibo-server", enter your server key you set up when you installed and then click "Save".

Now move to the "Register Display" tab and click Register.

Cheers

What happens if you press the "Display Admin" button?

It should take you to the Xibo Admin interface.

OK.

I'm stumped then. You're telling me that from your web browser on the same PC as the client and server are installed, you can get to http://locahost/xibo-server and are served the web interface, yet using the same url from the client doesn't work?

Things to try now:
* Make sure the client and the web browser are not configured to use a proxy server (since localhost will be relative to the proxy rather than the client)
* Replace localhost with the LAN IP address of the server machine (eg 192.168.1.7)
* In a web browser on the same machine, go to http://localhost/xibo-server/xmds.php - what is displayed?
* Look at the webserver access logs when clicking on the register button - what URL is the client accessing and what is the result in the log?

Cheers

Alex

Hi Alex,

I really thanks for the response. I restarted my localhost(php, mysql) and register the client. Its registered fine.
I schedule the some content and i play the client, Its displaying the version details first and displaying the original content.
I assume its for the older version only.

Once again really thank you so much for your response.

Hi Alex,

I am having the same problem for registering the client.

My Server is Win-03. URL for my server is: xibo : http://xibo.my-domain.com.
I am registering the client from outside the network (over internet. client and server are not on same machine).
Not sure what's going wrong.

Appreciate your help.

Regards,
DM

Start the client options. Check all the fields are filled in correctly. If you have to change any, ensure you press save.

Go to the Register tab. Press Register. What is shown in the text box?

If it appears not to work, press the Display Admin button. What happens?

In general, the more information you can give about what values you've put for things, what you've tried ans what the results are the quicker we can help you out. Saying you have the same problem in a thread where at least three separate issues are worked through is not useful as I have no idea what the problem you're seeing actually is!

Cheers

Alex
