Changing library image does not update layout

Asked by Steve

I am running version 1.5.2 server on Windows Server. One region has a timeline with multiple image items, each displaying for 10 seconds. These images will change on a monthly basis.

The problem: I went and edited the image in the library and uploaded the new image file. I also placed a check mark in the "Update this media in all layouts...". I am logged in as xibo_admin. The new image is uploaded successfully, but the image in the layout does not change. It still references the same image name.

Is this the proper way to update images? Ultimately I want to do this programmatically via the Xibo API.

You must never directly edit files in the server library.

You must upload your new file via the Web interface or via the api

I'm sorry but I must have stated the problem incorrectly. By editing I meant that I uploaded a new image to replace the existing one in the library. This was done through the web interface. In doing so I also checked the "Update this media in all layouts...". The problem is that it did not update the images in the layout where that image is used.

It will only be able to update images in layouts that you have permission
to edit. Perhaps that's the issue

I was logged in as xibo_admin. Do you need to apply permissions even if created as admin?

It's possibly a bug in 1.5.2 given its a development preview.

You could try upgrading to 1.6.0rc1 and see if that resolves it. Note
though we don't recommend using either of those releases in a production
environment.

Possibly. We're interested in 1.6 bugs at the moment though

Can you help with this problem?
