DataSets disapear from screen

Asked by Henning Øhre

Does anyone have experience with my challenge, or have been involved in this issue before:
We have multiple displays running information from the DataSet.
Sometimes, or in some places more often happens following: information from the DataSet disappears on refresh.
This means that if a Layoyt with DataSets lasts 5 minutes, then the information DataSets disappear for 5 minutes before going back. At the same time if the computer loses its internet Connection, so wont DataSet be shown, although we have not made any changes to the information in the DataSet.
DataSet is saved as html code in Xibo local library, it should be possible to show this until the internet connection comes back again.
Is there anyone who can help me with this?
We are running version 1.4.2

Hi Henning

If the cache interval were set to less than 5 minutes, then it would in
effect be refreshed each time the layout completed. If there were no
internet connection at that point nothing would be shown as the cached data
is too old and considered invalid.

Yes, but cache interval is set to 10 minutes.
What if I set the cache to 60 minutes, and the internet Connection is broken at the point of cache end (60 minutes).
-And the internet connection is ok after 10 miutes at that point,- then it would take up to 60 minutes before DataSets are showing on the displays again.

PS: Thank you for your quick answer.

You'd get one duration of the dataset with nothing shown at 60 minutes, then it would try to reload the dataset as it restarted.

Yes, I think I understand.
But: this is a restaurant menue with the same information running all the time, and it is a bit confusing that the menue disapear from the screeens.
I woud be using jpg pictures for the menues, but they wants to uppdate prises and text without any hassle- so thats why we use DataSets...

Do you have any sugestions for the duration and the Update interval on the layout?

I agree it would be nice if you could set it to fall back to old data.

In that case, I think I'd set it so that the cache interval is 1 day (do
they change their menu/prices more often than that?) and the duration to
say 5 or 10 minutes.

I will try to put the cache to 6 hours - in case they misspell any text.
But it would be very nice to have a fall back to old data. - Maybe a blueprint?

Would running the the player in offline and updating it with the usb stop it from blinking out? Might be their best choice if they don't update to often.
