Xibo version 1.2.0-rc1 and later will automatically convert to French if
that's how you have your languages preference set in your browser
settings.

No 1.0 series Xibo supports translation.

It's a setting in your web browser - not in Xibo. You must be running Xibo 1.2.0-rc1 or later and have installed from one of the release files we generate. The bzr repository does not contain the translations.

Hello,

Just installed the server on Zindows XP and Xamp as in your installation guide.
My client brower is IE8 on Windows 7.
Option for alngauge is set to Francais (France) [Fr-fr], but interface of Xibo is partially in French (10%).
Can you help me ?
I have users that really (poor them) do not understand any word of english.

Thanks for your answer.

If some of the interface is in French already, then it looks like the
translation engine is working.

Some parts of Xibo can't currently be translated, but it's way more
than 90% that can be.

https://translations.launchpad.net/xibo/1.2/+pots/default/fr/+translate

Shows no strings outstanding for translation. Your best bet is to wait
for the next version of Xibo where more of the interface will have
been translated.

In the mean time, you could update the translations file you have
already and see if that changes anything. You need to replace the
fr.mo file in the locale directory with the file you get from here:
https://translations.launchpad.net/xibo/1.2/+pots/default/fr/+export
(be sure to choose MO format).

Ok, i've made this :

1) Downloaded file mo for french translation. Put it in directory locale of xibo installation, and renamed it to fr.mo
==> no french language or partial.
2) Renamed the file fr.mo to fr_FR.mo
==> no french language or partial.
3) Made a copy of en_GB.mo to en_GB.mo.save and renamed fr.mo to en_GB.mo
==> Works perfectly.

Do not understand where there is a problem now.... Perhaps this installation on Windows for the server, because when i've tested it under Linux installation, it was working...

Alex, any idea (except throwing out wondows ?)

Your browser is set to prefer English over French..

Alex, thanks for your answer, but as you can see in my last message, my first installation on Linux for the server, and using the same client (same IE), there was no problem.

Any other idea ? Perhaps something wrong in the parameters of the apache server on windows ?

I guess your webserver isn't correctly passing in the language
preferences from the browser. We don't test on IIS at all so I'm
afraid I've no idea how you'd go about fixing that.

Hello Alex,

I'm not using IIS, but XAMP/Appache, as recommended in your installation documentation.
But it's under Windows. Something wrong somewhere in my installation ?

It should just work then. There's no dependencies on the PHP
installation so I don't understand why it wouldn't work.

I try to get Xibo in French. I have added to my both browsers French language (fr-fr) to Firefox and (fr-FR) to Explorer. I am reassured that it is the first choice of my preferred language. And I put the file fr.mo at the same directory than Xibo(.. / Xibo / fr.mo). But I always get Xibo in English only. Did I forget something? What should I do to get Xibo in two languages (French and English) ?

Thanks.
