Pb with python and Flash(appears in new window)

Asked by Sauvageot

Good morning,
sorry for my bad english, i'am french.I work in university of tahiti.
Thanks a lot for your job, easy to install and deploy.
I just have a strange issue with the python client, one region wich contains
flash(a clock) doesn't appears in the main frame, but in a new window like if it
was under firefox.I can see the full URL on the top of the screen : file:///opt/xibo/data/20.swf , and
the clock appears in a full screen.
The server version is 1.0.6, and the python client under Ubuntu 10.04 netbook version.
Thank a lot for your help if you can.

Marc

Please can you try with standard Ubuntu 10.04 NOT netbook remix. Netbook
remix does different things to window decorations.

Failing that try Ubuntu 9.10 where I know that doesn't happen.

If it is a general problem with 10.04 desktop then some screenshots would
be helpful, but in the mean time we'll just drop support for 10.04 until
we move to Berkelium (see blog post in the xibo site today).

Thanks a lot Alex.

unfortunaly i don't have time to try with ubuntu 10.04 again.
I have 15 days to deploy everything, buy the screens etc... so i will try directly
the solution with ubuntu 9.10, i must be sure it'll work.

Thanks a lot

Hi,

I have tried to display one of my layouts on the Python client on a 10.04 machine. I get a slightly different issue in that I cannot see my flash object at all. Not in the layout, or in a popout.

The only log entry that I can see that may account for this (but I dont think so) complains that avcodec and various similarly named libraries cannot be found in the same directory as the executable.

OK. Take it as broken on 10.04 until further notice.

I don't have the skills to fix it.

I've added it as a known issue in the install instructions.

Hi, at the end, this evening i stayed 2 hours more at work
and decided to try again with ubuntu 10.04 but desktop version.
After this command (sudo apt-get install libboost-python1.38.0 libboost-thread1.38.0 libdc1394-22 libgraphicsmagick++3 \
libgraphicsmagick3 libavutil49 bzr python-soappy python-feedparser python-serial flashplugin-nonfree \
libavcodec52 libavformat52 libswscale0 libsdl1.2debian-pulseaudio) , everything seems to be ok, but when i
came back to the logs something has going wrong with adobe flash.May be this has appened with my ubuntu 10.04 nettop
the first time and i didn't see it.I am behind a proxy.server and it seems the adobe flash installation can't go throught
but i am not sure.
Tomorrow i will finish the installation of adobe flash properly i hope and test again,
I will let you know.

hello,
ok everything is working now, everything was my fault, the proxy server made bad installation of adobe flash player,
i had to do it without proxy, and now the python client is working perfectly.
I hope my stupid mistake will help other people....
