How to deploy Xibo server software in Shared web hosting server? Please share the instructions.

Asked by Ravi

We have shared server with the following software

OS -Linux
Apache
PhpAdmin
MySql

This server is shared. It is webhosting server and couple of web sites deployed in it.
We also do not have access to login using putty or FileZilla Server client. we only have access to control panel and can deploy web application. We wanted to know how to create library folder in local disc?

Please advise us.

Regards,
Ravi

When you get to the section in the installer where it asks for the library
directory, you'll have to enter a few random letters and numbers - eg
jsohs830.

That will create a directory of that name inside your xibo server
directory.

You should speak to your hosting provider to find out how to secure that
directory with an .htaccess file otherwise anybody could download all your
media items.

If your hosting is very locked down then you'll probably run into other
issues as well so it might be better to look for a cheap vipdeals instead.

Thanks Alex. Apprciate your quick response.

Can i extract .tar file in my desktop and then copy these files to apache httpd location in linux server? and then call the application through url in browser and go through installation process?

Please suggest some good and cheap vipdeals so that we can deploy there and start using it.

Regards,
Ravi

Yes. Untar the file on your machine and upload the server directory to your hosting.

vipdeals is a typo. It should have read vps deal - ie get an account with a VPS provider instead. I'm not in a position to recommend a particular supplier.
