That's normal unless there is some other problem like it doesn't boot. What happens after that?

In some cases there is a delay. For most it just flashes by. I have no idea why this affects some people. It might relate to the physical location of the wubildr file. There is an old thread on Ubuntuforums.org where a program fstest is mentioned that can give some diagnostics about the wubildr file: http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-782663.html

But the easiest thing to do it this workaround:
You can mount /dev/sda1 and copy wubildr to it. /dev/sda1 is probably a boot or recovery partition.

sudo mount /dev/sda1 /mnt
sudo cp /host/wubildr /mnt/wubildr
sudo umount /mnt

That's a bit of a hack but it works.
