.5 and .6 do not find the SD card/cannot select drive

Asked by David E. Brown

I am using a windows xp laptop to try and setup Rasberry Pi's OS. win32-image-writer does not find the drive with the SD card and it does not allow me to select a drive. I went back to .4 and drive selection worked but it will not recognize the 32 gb SD card. It says the SD card is too small. Is there a size limit for the SD card? Is it possible that .5 and .6 don't work with XP?
Thanks

The mechanism to detect removable drives was changed for the next release (coming this weekend - 2 Feb 2013). As soon as it is available, please download and try it. If this issue still persists, please file a bug that contains the version of win32-image-writer, Windows release, and complete make/model of your system so that I can look up its specs.

I was able yo use the .7 release. I installed it on a Dell Vostro laptop running Windows 8. It would not pick or allow Drive selection using my newer Dell laptop running XP. I think the Lexmark software takes ownership and won't allow sharing removable media devices.

Bottom line .7 worked for me.

Thanks,
David

So, v0.7 worked. This question is solved (not that I like this question/answer thing).
