What happened to map in new release?

Asked by mindaugasd

Why map is blank and white. Why it is far less detailed? I no longer see buildings, rivers, most streets (and no longer shows my street) and all the other things like names of places :( I see that new b/w map is added in log, but not more info. I can't find how to choose normal map in settings. What happened?

I explained here:
https://plus.google.com/u/0/+MarcosCostales/posts/P7m4AfvMWX4
and here:
https://plus.google.com/u/0/+MarcosCostales/posts/5BUL6MH79NY

This is because the current map will have (11 July) a small usage limit:
http://devblog.mapquest.com/2016/06/15/modernization-of-mapquest-results-in-changes-to-open-tile-access/

and there isn't another [free|unlimited|nice] map. A black&white map from Stamen is the unique alternative by now...

I'm trying to create my own OpenStreetMap server, but it is taking so many days :S

My apologies.
Best regards.

I have read your comment in OmgUbuntu that you were setting your own homeserver, but the performance was poor.

I think you could buy a server service, because in my mind it seems cheep. For example, this is a provider from my country http://dedikuoti.lt/.

Example plan:

* CPU 10 GHz (4 x 2.4 GHz)
* RAM 4 GB
* HDD 160 GB
* Internet 250 Mbps
* Price 4 EUR/month

You can get this price by following my link:
https://www.dedikuoti.lt/rekomenduoti.php?eWNyUHk4MAkxCWNmNjk

I will explain pricing a bit:
* Real price is 16 EUR/month for this plan.
* 50 % off on first order.
* additional 50 % off by following my link (in a form of the bonus)
* So we get 4 EUR in the end.

Service is very good, I use it personally.
One drawback, all text is in Lithuanian (except server itself), but with help of Google translate and me, it might be not a big issue.

Some benifits:
* This company has its own datacenter. Is biggest (and oldest or smth) provider of data services in Lithuania.
* HDD with SSD (or smth).
* Money back guarantee within 1 month.
* You can change a plan very easily in 5 minutes, if more or less reasorces are needed and save even more money.
* Very easy to install ubuntu with two clicks.
* All service is simple to use since all UI is custom build (but in Lithuanian)

Thanks a lot mindaugasd :) It's a so interesting link.
The requeriments for a productive server are 24GB of RAM :S and 500MB
of HD. This is so far for a virtual server. And uNav doesn't generate
so much money.
A hug.

You are welcome.

Wow, 24 GB RAM, but this service only offers 16 GB at most :( And the price would be a lot more as well. Hm.

I could donate half the price, since I would get bonus myself from this link, but still considering this and all the discounts I mentioned it would still cost 256 EUR for first 9 months (as example) and only 16 GB ram...

Yes, it is crazy.
I was asking for one thing, if it works, it will be a miracle ;)
