Suggestions: User access to customized iso / economize disk space / choose filename for built iso

Asked by Tomix

Hi,

first of all, thanks for this really helpful tool. I'm a newbie to Linux and appreciate everything like this.

Then, there's one point that's been mentioned before I think. It's that read/write permission issue. Let me put it this way: as a user, I don't want root to write about in my home directory things I cannot handle (i.e. delete or move). ;-)
Seriously: maybe you could make it change the permissions acccordingly - and flush the build directories - after the successful build?

Another point is that UCK complains it cannot create the build directories if there's been a build before, so every time I have to become root and then delete everything by hand which I find annoying. (And don't forget to empty .Trash-root, or you're quickly running out of disk space...)

Only one minor point left: it would be great to let the user choose the filename of the iso. That's it.

Hope this helps

Tom

we know about the root thing but there's no way we can't do that at the moment (there's a bug already opened about that), changing permessions on thounsand files could be the wrong thing to do, i'd leave things as they are until we can build all with the normal user accounts.

second point: this is only uck-gui related but not uck-remaster-* related, i suggest you to delete everything from command line with a simple sudo rm -rf tmp, not passing by trash...

3rd) you can do that using uck-remaster-* scripts but not with the gui, i'll try to add this feature anyway cause it's been asked many times

thinking about the iso file name... actually it means a "mv livecd.iso yourname.iso" thus maybe it's not so useful to be added to the core uck-gui

okay, I didn't know there's another way to use the programme other than by running the gui. I haven't found anything about that yet.

Hello everybody.

Is there any way to allow user deleting/creating files in the home while using livecd?

Thanks

I don't understand the question. Users are always allowed to
create/delete files when they are using live CD. Otherwise live CD
session would not work.
