Looks like either a broken ISO image or a CD that is not a live CD (and that therefore can only be customized via the command line).

In order to tell you more we'd need to know the system you are trying to customize as well as the system you run on (ubuntu version, kernel architecture, name of the ISO image).

You should also update to UCK 2.4.0 available from the ppa:uck-team/uck-stable PPA in order to avoid bugs that were fixed a long time ago.

Cheers,
Wolf

Thank you! Geldmacher!!

Iam using 2.6.32-21-generic kernel
and running 10.04 version Ubuntu (lucid).

As, Iam using Lucid, I guess, iam not getting UCK 2.4.0

I tried to update present UCK 2.0.12, but its not working on the way!

I'll try by moving to 10.10 Ubuntu.

Thanx!!

Which system are you trying to customize?

UCK (i.e. uck-gui) should work with all the [klx]ubuntu-desktop-i386.iso's.

If (and only if) you are running on a 64bit machine (i.e. "uname -m" prints x86_64) you can also customize all -desktop-amd64.iso's (in addition to the i386 ones).

If you try to customize a -server or -alternate CD you will need to resort to using the UCK command line interface - these distributions do not have a live filesystem on CD (i.e. the squashfs will not be found as per your question).

I will create the latest release of UCK (2.4.1) for lucid in the uck-team testing PPA at ppa:uck-team/uck-unstable - feel free to use that.

Wolf - Sorry to post to such an old thread, hope you see this. Not sure if I have just been blind and not seen it, but I am planning to move a bunch of systems from 10.04 to 12.04. With 10.04, I have made a wonderful custom USB install drive that I have used all over the place (many thank yous for your efforts to make this possible). The move to Unity in 12.04 is not tolerable for me, so I developed a plan based on the server release and then grabbed UCK to make my custom distro...only to find this post after getting the (now obvious) error=32. If the requirement for the desktop .iso to start off is prominently mentioned and I am blind, ignore this. If not, perhaps it would be worthwhile to mention which release of Ubuntu can be used with uck-gui. If you would like to point me to a proper location on a wiki to do this, I would be honored to offer my meager help.

The project description on the entry page reads:

"This tool helps you to customize official Ubuntu Live CDs to your needs. You can add any package to the live system, for example language packs, or some applications."

the key phrases here being 'live CD / live system'.

The server/alternate CD's are not live systems (i.e. they cannot be run without being installed) and the GUI is not applicable.

If you want to base your custom install on the server CD I'd recommend to look into preseeding (i.e. google for "ubuntu preseeding") and/or installation over the network.

As alternatives it may be possible for you to
- write a (shell) script and just put the script and the necessary .deb archives on the USB stick, or to
- base your efforts on the 12.04 lubuntu/xubuntu desktop CD that can be customized via UCK.

... and yes: please do not hijack old threads - it's just as easy to create a new question

Can you help with this problem?
