He was changing the package from ubuntu to yelp in ubuntu ie you put your question originally in the wrong place. This is for administration.

When your computer boots up it will present to you the grub menu. In it select recovery mode.

All the best :)

LOL I am not that green I did all recovery and generic options  thank you none of that works even used my  disc to come on to find this boot issue. but this is happening very often with updates and upgrades I am thinking trading my Matronix mainboard for another mainboard thinking it is that

Bug #507812 status changed in Ubuntu:

    New => Incomplete

Status change explanation given by Ludwin Janvier:

We need more elements to help you.
What is starting and what is not ?
Can you see grub's menu ? (where you can select ubutnu / recovery mode / maybe windows)
can you see usplash (ubuntu starting logo) ?
Can you see a login manager ?

To disable usplash for a single boot, follow these steps:
1. Press Esc during Grub boot delay to access the boot menu.
2. Select your actual Ubuntu boot line and press "e" to edit it.
3. Select the "kernel" line and press "e" to edit it.
4. At the end of the line, remove "splash" and "quiet" and press "enter".
5. Type "b" to boot the custom boot line.
