No sound

I have been getting no sound.

I have tried to disable the sound in the BIOS, but still have no sound.

Is my sound card dead?

If not please help!

Hi The Dude and thanks for your question.

It seems that your sound card is at least detected. Have you checked that you haven't muted any channels? You can check that by running application gnome-volume-control (Gnome) or kmix (KDE). Especially check that channels Master, PCM and Headphone are not muted and that the volume level is sufficient.

If that didn't solve your problem, could you try to run Ubuntu Live CD environment and check if you can get sound out of it that way?

All the channels are un muted and I am getting no sound even with the live Cd inserted and running.
