Cannot install v 10.10 on Inspiron 1520 - video problem

Asked by Tommy Martin

I am unable to usel Ubuntu 10.10 on my Inspiron 1520. The video does not work after installation and only puts lines on the screen. I have a GForce 8000 video card. Is there any way around this? The last version I could install and use was 8.04.

Unfortunately not regarding 8000, but 8400, maybe it helps.

Verify if there're any other drivers offered in
system administration -> additional drivers

Test a different video output.
Open via CLI:
gstreamer-properties

Tab video, output method: X Window System (no Xv)
