Are you able to use mouse at boot menu ?
You talked of "Unity", does it work before and in which configuration ?

Yes i can use the mouse in boot menu. I have installed ubuntu 11.04 in
various machines. But only one of them have this problem. The mouse
worked before i installed driver for video card, then the unity came up
and the mouse lost its klick funktion. The marker is vorking.
(I am sorry if my english is not good.)

Please, don't post with previous message included. It makes Web interface hard to read.
The issue is probably in graphic server. Could you post result of command: sudo lshw -C display
