Enabling TV-out (s-video)

Asked by Cervera

Hey,
I've just installed ubuntu, getting ready to drop XP...
have one last problem i need to solve:

I can't use the TV-out port.
in the resolutions it never detects the tv.

I'm using a Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo Pro V2020 Laptop,
Intel 855 GME integrated Video chipset

this is how my xord looks like (yes, short indeed):

Section "Device"
 Identifier "Configured Video Device"
EndSection

Section "Monitor"
 Identifier "Configured Monitor"
EndSection

Section "Screen"
 Identifier "Default Screen"
 Monitor "Configured Monitor"
 Device "Configured Video Device"
 SubSection "Display"
  Modes "1440x900"
 EndSubSection
EndSection

#as you can see i've already added a screen resolution that i needed, and it works

Thanks!

Ooo, i always like to keep a dual-boot option, just in case, as it takes a ridiculous amount of effort to reinstall. I tend to cramp it up a bit but if i need it it's available. A legit Xp (or at least one that thinks it's legit) is not so bad nowadays ;)

well, back here.
it doesn't work.

did a bit more research before posting here again,

found out intel driver is installed,
but connection is not identified. here's a peek to xrandr output, while s-video is connected to it:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1024 x 768, maximum 1024 x 1024
VGA disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
LVDS connected 1024x768+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 304mm x 228mm
   1024x768 60.0*+ 85.0 75.0 70.1 60.0*
   832x624 74.6
   800x600 85.1 72.2 75.0 60.3 56.2
   640x480 85.0 72.8 75.0 59.9
   720x400 85.0
   640x400 85.1
   640x350 85.1
TMDS disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
notice TDMS reports to be disconnected although cable's connected and TV is ON
hardware's fine because it works when booting from XP

thanks!
