Virtual PC 2007 on 8.04

Asked by Kevin

I have cross-over Linux as well as Wine. When I go to install either Microsoft Virtual PC 2004 or 2007 it will not let me go any further than the Name/Organization tab. When I click on NEXT it just clicks repeatedely and does not go anywhere. Have you ever dealt with this?

Why on Ubuntu you don't install virtualbox-ose as your virtual pc software...?

To install virtualbox in Ubuntu

Please first enable the universe repository:

Open System → Administration → Software sources → [ Tab Ubuntu software ]
enable "Community Maintained open source software (universe)"
Close and confirm the repository reload.

Then open a Terminal from the menu Applications → Accessories → Terminal and type:

sudo aptitude update
sudo aptitude install virtualbox virtualbox-ose-guest-utils

give your user password when requested, you don't see nothing when you type it, then press enter.

Here some already answered questions related...

Hope this helps

Wine does not support Microsoft Virtual PC.

You should either run your applications directly on Wine, or load Windows using a Linux-hosted virtual machine like virtualbox, xen, kvm, or vmware.
