unable to upgrade to 8.10 - unable to connect to server
Have been trying to upgrade to 8.10 from 8.04 for the last 2 hours using Update Manager.

Have no problems with the network.
Is there any problem with the server?

You have the package stuck. Use this guide to hack it out (this is one of the HUGE weaknesses in package systems)
http://
Obviously substitute the package name for the ztemtevdo one and you should be ok.

Interpid is no longer supported in ANY WAY. It is EOL. Upgrade to at least Lucid as this is the earliest supported release.

Thank you.. what i need to know is.. since i have no real need to back up any data on this PC.. is it better to upgrade here like you said or fresh install the 11.04 from another PC into this one via 8GB memory stick.
Talking to someone not very technical minded btw! i just really need the system up and running. Thanks for the help so far

It is a cleaner OS if you clean install Natty. As there is no data to worry about you can simply tell the installer to remove the current partitions and install Natty to the new free space :) If you single boot Ubuntu only, this is especially easy
